Who is this course for?

This course is perfect for those who already work in the area of women’s health and want to add ‘yoga teacher’ to your qualifications.  It’s also for those who would like to become a yoga teacher but would prefer to train in a soft, gentle and more feminine kind of yoga and would like to share this approach with women in your community. We call this feminine approach to yoga Shakti-Purna Yoga.

Pre-requisites for this course are at least 6 months of regular yoga practice and a passion for yoga and women’s health.

What is Shakti-Purna Yoga?

Shakti-Purna Yoga is a feminine, feel-good approach to yoga co-created by Bliss Baby Yoga and the Byron Yoga Centre.  Like all of the teacher training courses and classes taught by the Byron Yoga Centre, it’s an approach that is holistic, integrating not just the physical postures but also the other equally important subtle aspects of yoga such as philosophy and yogic ethics, meditation and breathing practices.  The difference is that in this Teacher Training Course the postures and practices are taught from a uniquely feminine perspective - to suit the particular needs of the female body and psyche, and to support a female student’s monthly and life cycles.

Shakti_Purna_Bliss_Baby_Womens_Yoga_UttanasanaShakti-Purna Yoga focuses on safe, mindful alignment in the yoga postures that also honours the unique feminine anatomy and physiology.   The postures that are covered are safe, gentle and easily modified for students of all ages and stages.

The fundamentals of pranayama (breath-work), meditation, philosophy and ethics will also be covered, but from a woman-centred perspective.

Feedback from graduates of our 120 hr Shakti Purna Yoga Teacher Training (2016):

"A life-changing course. Beautiful teachers, fellow students and surroundings, and such a nourishing environment physically and emotionally to learn. The course was brilliant, a great mix of practical and theory and wonderful content. I have learnt more not just about yoga and women, but about myself and the world. I can't wait to share more, and in the meantime will carry what I have learnt with me always. The perfect course for a more feminine and balanced approach to yoga and life in general." Hendrika, Physiotherapist & Mama-of 1, Victoria (graduate of 200 hr Shakti Purna YTT 2016)

"A nurturing and uplifting training specifically for women. I feel really proud to have been part of the first Shakti Purna Yoga Teacher Training. I learned so much more than I could have imagined and am still processing the information. The teachers were all professional and genuinely caring and considerate. The textbooks and handouts are a valuable resource for my own personal practice as well as useful for my future teaching. I can't recommend this course highly enough, it will challenge you and inspire you and enhance your own yoga experience." - Rosalind, Victoria  (graduate of 120 hr Shakti Purna Module 1, 2016)

"I have completed the first 120 hr module of the Bliss Baby Yoga Shakti Purna Yoga Teacher Training course and can't wait to finish my 200 hr training. Honestly, this course has changed my life. To have the opportunity to spend time learning, reflecting and practicing yoga in such a caring and supportive environment with an amazing group of women - what more do you need. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the course. I was not sure what to expect as I had not attended any yoga courses before. The first module was exceptionally well organised and the course content was excellent with very experienced teachers in both theory and practice. The teachers were very approachable and always ready to answer questions in and out of class." - Roslyn, QLD (graduate of 120 hr Shakti Purna Module 1, 2016)
