About these modules
The Bliss Baby Pre natal and Post natal Intensives are fun, practical and packed with information to help launch you into the growing field of teaching pregnant and post partum mums. We're excited to announce that we're now offering our weekend prenatal and postnatal modules in Melbourne.
Our pre natal and post natal course modules are designed to equip you with greater knowledge, confidence and a comprehensive ‘tool kit’ of appropriate asanas (postures) and practices for safely teaching pregnant women during all stages of pregnancy, as well as confidently guiding post-partum women.
Our Bliss Baby Course Facilitators are highly experienced and passionate about applying yoga to benefit women during all stages of their fertile life.
As mentioned, above, you may complete these modules, as stand-alone courses, or, if you are seeking the greater qualification of RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Course, you may want to consider our full 100 hour course)
Prenatal Module: "Module 1: Prenatal & Birth - Foundation" 8 - 10 February 2013
In this 26 hour intensive weekend training, you will emerge with the foundational knowledge to teach pregnant women yoga safely and appropriately.
We will cover the theoretical and practical applications, including:
- The three trimesters - psycho-physiological changes to mum and baby
- Birth: stages of labour; supporting a woman for a natural birth
- "The Golden Rules" - safety guidelines for prenatal students
- Sequencing for prenatal yoga - the 5 prenatal posture groups
- Prenatal yoga therapy/ applied Anatomy & Physiology: back problems & pelvic instabilty during pregnancy; other common prenatal complaints
- Pelvic floor & squatting
- Working with props to modify for various stages of pregnancy
- Prenatal Restorative Yoga
- Prac: sample prenatal practices
- Prenatal partner yoga
- Pranayama for pregnancy and birth
Postnatal Module "Module 3: Postnatal & Mums n Bubs" , Apri 26 - 28, 2013
We will cover the fundamental knowledge to help you feel confident to start your own post natal and mums and bubs yoga classes. In this 28 hour training, we’ll be looking at:
- The 'fourth trimester' - emotional and physiological overview of early motherhood
- Postnatal Sequencing: including the 5 postnatal posture groups & important safety guidelines
- Postnatal pranayama & bandha practices
- Postnatal restorative yoga
- Prac: sample postnatal practices

- Postnatal applied anatomy & physiology/ yoga therapy: pelvic
- floor, pelvic & back conditions & diastasisrectus
- Postnatal Case Study Presenations
- Mums n Bubs & Mums n Toddlers Yoga -theory, sequencing ideas, and sample practices
- Prac: mums n bubs/toddlers student prac teaching
- Introduction to baby massage
- Nutrition & naturopathy for new mothers

The Instructors
Ana Davis, Bliss Baby Yoga Director
Ana Davis has been teaching yoga for 17 years and is the founder of Bondi Bliss Yoga Studio in Sydney. Ana has been specialising in the area of teaching and training teachers in pre/postnatal yoga for the last 7 years, and conducts her teacher training and yoga for women's health workshops in Australia and Japan.
Ana is based in Byron Bay and is also a senior teacher on Byron Yoga Centre’s teacher training courses. Ana also specializes in Restorative Yoga and teaches on Byron Yoga Centre’s Yoga Therapy Teacher Training CoursesAs mother to 8 year old Marley, Ana is passionate about sharing the benefits and joys of yoga for every stage of one’s life journey.
Star Rumble is a devoted yogini and has been practicing yoga for 19 years and teaching for 6 years. S
he is a Senior Byron Yoga Centre qualified Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer and has trained as a Bliss Baby Facilitator with Ana Davis, and supervises students undergoing our online courses. She also teaches prenatal and postnatal yoga classes at Red Tent Yoga and at the Pregnancy Support Group in Byron Bay.
Star is passionate about working with and empowering women at all stages of their lives and has a keen interest in the sacred space a woman experiences as she moves through the stages of pregnancy and birth. She has two children, her youngest is a 10 month old, Willow. She continues to expand her knowledge base by undergoing Doula certification.
Mari Notaras has taught and practiced yoga for over 15 years. Mari's passion and interest in prenatal yoga naturally developed when she fell pregnant with her first child. She discovered that yoga during pregnancy was such a powerful tool - finding incredible peace, strength, and a strong connection to the feminine energy that was residing deep within. Mari has taught pregnant women and new mums for over 8 years, and has studied extensively in the area of Pre and Post Natal Yoga with many great pre natal teachers from both Australia and around the world.
Anna Watts, a beloved guest teacher for Bliss Baby for some years now, is a qualified Doula and Childbirth educator who has been guiding women and their partners through the journey of pregnancy and birth since 1990. Anna was also one of the original Prenatal Yoga Teachers, trained in the Satyananda tradition. Anna is a mother to two beautiful, adult daughters.
Lisa Fitzp
atrick is a physiotherapist, Yoga and Anatomy Teacher, Writer and mother of two boys. She has over 18 years experience working with people to improve health by promoting Mind-Body awareness. Lisa has a specialised interest in Women's Health, well-being and spiritual consciousness, and has a talent for making complex anatomical concepts simple and fun.
Lisa Hose completed her Naturopathy Advanced Diploma in 2003. She worked as a Natu
ropath in various clinic environments including a multi-modality clinic, which she was part of establishing, within Macro Wholefoods Market and in a Chiropractic and Naturopathy clinic located within a Health Club. Then in June 2008 she became a proud parent & enjoyed being mum to her daughter Scarlet. In February 2011 she joined the Alfred/Monash University Integrative Medicine Education & Research team as a Research Administrator, working on various projects researching Complementary Medicines within the hospital system. Lisa is passionate about using nutrition, food & herbal medicine to support the body th
rough pregnancy & breastfeeding, giving our children the best start in life.
Kate Knox is a mother of four, midwife, lactation consultant, childbirth educator, writer and midwifery lecturer. She has worked as a hospital midwife for many years and continues to resist the biomedical approach to pregnancy and birth. Kate is currently exploring effective ways to utilise social media in childbirth education and decision-making around maternity care. In her spare time, she enjoys anything to do with horses, family holidays at the beach, and trekking at high altitude where every breath counts. She is constantly amazed by her wonderful children.
Course Prerequisites
The Intensive modules are suitable for yoga teachers and teacher trainees (at minimum of level 1), and anyone who works in women’s health related fields, interested in finding out more about the benefits and applications of yoga pre and post natally.
Accreditation
Attendance of the weekend modules provides ongoing Professional Development for Yoga Australia & Yoga
Alliance members
Yoga teacher members of both the Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia are required to complete ongoing professional development to keep their membership current.
Registrants of our weekend modules will receive a Completion Certificate and will be able to use the course hours to accrue these necessary professional development hours, as well as to gain the all-important knowledge and skills to launch them into this specialized area of women’s health.
If you're seeking a more in-depth, ongoing study experience in this specialised area as well as the added qualification with Yoga Alliance of RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher), you may want to consider enrolling in our 100 Hour Pre & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training Course which includes an additional prenatal weekend module (module 2) as well as at-home course work.
