Who would benefit from this course?
This course is perfect for any one who can’t make it to Byron Bay (or other locations) for the face-to-face weekend intensives. The online option allows you the flexibility of studying from your own home, at your own pace. The course is ideal for already qualified yoga teachers, recent teacher training graduates, or those still completing their yoga teacher training – who want to specialise in the growing field of prenatal and postnatal yoga.
The course would also be enjoyable and informative if you're a keen yoga practitioner who is pregnant or a new mum, and you're looking to deepen your knowledge of how yoga can support you during these new and exciting stages in your life.
What accreditation is offered?
A Completion Certificate is provided once you've completed all course lectures, submitted your assignment and received your feedback via your interactive Skype session. We ask you to keep a record of the total hours you spend on the course, which will then be written on your certificate.
Yoga teacher members of both Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia are required to complete ongoing professional development to keep their membership current.
By completing the Bliss Baby Online course, teachers are able to accrue these necessary professional development hours as well as to gain the all-important knowledge and skills to launch them into this specialized area of women’s health.
For Yoga Australia members, 36 CPD points (Continuing Professional Development) must be accrued to keep your membership active. These can be accrued through contact or non-contact courses. For online courses two hours are equal to 1 CPD point. The Bliss Baby Online Complete Course, on average will take 50 hours to complete, so you will accrue at least 25 CPD points.
For Yoga Alliance members, 'Continuing Education' hours needs to be maintained through both ‘contact’ and ‘non-contact’ learning. Every 5 hours you spend on the Bliss Baby online course is equivalant to 1-hour of continuing education points. So, if you take about 50 hours to complete the Online Complete Course, you will accrue 10 Continuing Education hours.
To read more about accreditation for prenatal and postnatal yoga teachers read our informative article.
How does the course work?
After you've enrolled and we've confirmed your payment for the course, you'll be given exclusive access to a private area of the website where you can access all your online resources (written materials and audio lecture files). We’ll also mail you other course resources – DVDs and CD.
You’ll have 6 lectures to listen to, and one Video lecture, if you are doing the Complete Course, or 2 lectures if you are doing the Postnatal Course. Whilst listening to the lectures you can read along with the Course Manual and Course Guide. You can also have your yoga mat (and sometimes other props like bolster, brick) at the ready as there will be practical segments to some of the lectures. There are also additional DVD & CD resources to view/ listen/practice.
After each audio or video lecture you'll be assigned homework tasks to keep you engaged and ensure you’re integrating the information we’re giving you, and to help you prepare for the learning to come in the next session.
After you’ve completed the final audio lecture, you’ll be asked to undertake a Major Case Study Assignment. Don’t worry, by this time, this won’t be a daunting task, rather, a fun, practical way of integrating all of the information you’ve learnt, by applying the information.
Once we’ve marked your Major Case Study Assignment we’ll book a Live Skype session with you. This is your opportunity to chat with a Bliss Baby Facilitator about any questions you may have about course content that’s been covered, as well as receive feedback from us about your Case Study Assignment.
How long does the course take to complete?
The beauty of this online option of the Bliss Baby Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training is that you can complete it in your own time, to fit around your other commitments. That said, if you had a chunk of available free time, there’s no reason why you couldn’t finish the Complete Course within a week to 10 days, or the Postnatal Course within a weekend (subject to availability of Bliss Baby Course Facilitator for the Live Session).
Alternatively you could pace the Complete Course over 7 weeks, covering a module (ie: one audio lecture and homework module) each week. The main thing to remember is that you have up to 6 months to complete the course. How you pace it over that time, well, that’s up to you, and what works best for your lifestyle.
What past online Pre/Postnatal course participants say
"Many thanks for an excellent, thought provoking and inspiring course - I really enjoyed completing it." Angela
"I was so impressed with the format and content of the course. I would highly recommend this course to any yoga teacher wanting to learn about prenatal/postnatal yoga." Michelle
I loved the course! I have learnt so much. I have been teaching pre-natal yoga classes, and I have developed much more confidence in my teaching because I feel more knowledgeable. And I love the feeling that I am helping my students. I loved the teaching style and the format was great; it was helpful having the course guide to follow as I listened to the lectures. The information was fantastic… a great way to learn, good mix of theory and practice. Ana is obviously so passionate about pre & post natal yoga, and it’s hard not to catch that passion. It was a real pleasure to learn from her" Karen Buckland
"Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed session 1. Wonderfully clear explanations that made sense of a lot of things I'd read or heard before but didn't know the reasons or the whole context. You have certainly made this thorough and detailed material very accessible. I also loved the deliberate setting of intention." Alison
The materials were incredibly well thought out and professional without being 'slick'. I have done other on-line courses and the audio-visual was neither audible or able to be seen! Very impressed with the layout, quality and content of the on-line course materials." Linda White
"Thank you for providing this great course online...for this medium has been essential as I live in remote Alice Springs, NT. The Teacher Training has given me confidence to go and start teaching in this area, where as before I felt so unsure and a little nervous. I have come away from this course respecting the benefits of pregnancy yoga as a valuable therapy for the mother and baby and would recommend it to all pregnant women. The course was fun, thorough and placed the safety of the mother and baby at a high priority. I feel it is important for the yoga teacher to be qualified in this area and to see pre and postnatal yoga as a specialised area. the course has changed my teaching direction...I love the pre and postnatal aspects to yoga. Thank you for sharing your knowledge." Joanne Gordon
"I have finished working through the pre and post natal course and ready for my case study. The information has been invaluable on a personal and professional level. I am 30 weeks pregnant and it has changed my practice as a student and as a teacher." Rennah Elliott, Yoga Teacher, N.S.W
"I would recommend this course to anyone who has an interest in pre/post natal Yoga and in teaching Yoga. It has been far more than I ever imagined, and I feel that I have a whole new perspective in my own life & teaching style," Louise O'loan, Yoga Teacher, Bahrain
"It was very easy to follow and complete the course. I feel totally confident implementing the ideas and practices in my teaching. The DVD classes were particularly helpful," Mel Champion, Yoga Teacher, Golbourn
"I found the online teacher training very useful and beneficial. I feel much more comfortable and confident as a teacher leading a class at 7 months pregnant that am doing the Asanas safely and beneficially for me and my baby. I thought the practical knowledge was invaluable. Every woman is different both in body and in her yoga experience so having props and modifications can be very useful," Liliana Bruno, Yoga Teacher, Adelaide
"I enjoyed the course. It was great to be able to study at home, stop and start when I needed to and also to rewind and revist parts of the course that I wanted to refer to again. It covered the most important anatomy, asana, health issues, as well as emotional issiues, without trying to flesh it out with other stuff to fill in time," Cliar Skyring, Bald Hills
"Just wanted to let you know I held my first mums & bubs yoga class today! Thank you for providing me with the knowledge, confidence and inspiration to conduct safe postnatal yoga classes. The class is such a success, it was booked out before we began, and I will now have two weekly mums & bubs classes," Andi Kiprillis, Berwick, Victoria
"I loved the way Bliss Baby allowed each student to be themselves, rousing the individual to ask questions, discuss matters of interest and to share information. The support team at Bliss Baby showed faith and acceptance as they continued to ask for our comments and input, it allowed for free communication. I loved the generosity of the sharing by means of personal experiences, articles, demonstrations (DVD) and printed forms of guidance as well as the online communication," Louise O'loan, Yoga Teacher, Bahrain
What past online Postnatal course participants say:
" I truly enjoyed the Online Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training and I am totally thrilled that I did this course. After already completing some postnatal training elsewhere and unsure of how to actually conduct a class, I now feel confident that I can competently teach the joys and benefits of postnatal yoga successfully to women. Watching the DVD was fantastic and along with the great and very informative written information the skype lesson at the end made it even better because after submitting a case study you then have the opportunity to hear feedback face to face and ask questions." Shae Atkins
"I loved and enjoyed the sound of Ana's voice and I enjoyed my informative Skype session with Star." Natalie
"It was very well structured, uncomplicated and the right amount of time. Already qualified teachers would enjoy the practicality of this course" Janine Campbell, Yoga Teacher, Gold Coast
"I felt very satisfied with this course. I felt that any support and communication was just an email away and all communication was answered quickly and efficiently. Ana Davis’ voice, teachings and explanations were excellent, as well as the whole presentation. My husband watched the Mums and Bubs class presented by Ana and he was most positive with his comments on her presentation. She is natural, down to earth and very easy to relate to. " Judy Walker
"I learned a lot, it was a good alternative way of learning more about postnatal yoga. I feel confident and it is lovely to have some background information to fall back on." Emmy Heikamp
